The brand new iPhone XS and XS Max have finally gone on sale to Apple fans around the world.
With a hefty price tag, it’s only normal for one to admire the beauty of the new phone and its functions, but not this guy. James Griffith, the co-founder and CEO of hardy iPhone case brand Mous, has thrown the gadget down the steps of Sydney Opera House in a bid to test its durability and flaunt the quality of Mous’ iPhone case for Apple’s latest additions.
Mous is a London-based start-up that designs the iPhone cases using the material it calls ‘Airoshock’. Though the cases are thin, they are touted to offer substantial protection, which means that even if you toss your phone from 30 feet, the gadget will still survive unscathed.
Lucy Hutchinson, Mous’ co-founder and head of brand, explained that Mous’ cases work well with the iPhone as the protective accessory adds only 2.5mm to the phone’s thickness. In order for the case to successful shield the phone, the fit needs to be “accurate to 1/10th of a millimetre.”
In an attempt to prove its case—pun intended—the Mous’ team has carried out extreme stunts such as dropping phones from air-borne helicopters. To test its screen protector, the team had tried hammering a nail into the host gadget.
Since Apple is extremely good at keeping new devices under wraps, the Mous team had to make several smart guesses to design its next range of phone cases.
According to Griffith, the team had observed Apple’s design trends as well as rumors, though this process was “nerve-wrecking” as the company did not know if the cases would work until the flagship phones were launched.
